Welcome

Founded to improve the quality of expository writing in schools and universities, the Calderwood Writing Initiative at the Boston Athenæum sponsors experimental programs and approaches that foster a culture of writing among students and educators.

The Initiative is funded by the Calderwood Charitable Foundation and operates as a department of the Boston Athenæum, one of the country's most venerable libraries and cultural institutions.
